The
Naming of the Dogs |
Here we see one of two ways to test to see if a dog is a real Corgi. Rolling down the hill upside down on your back! Yep, she's a Corgi |
We get to find out that crates are a great safe place to be. |
If you would like to find out how to become a foster parent for a corgi kid, please click here for our volunteer page. |
We learn to play with toys. |
We learn to play with people. |
We also learn how to properly display our bunny butts. |
Ah yes, the final test for a real corgi. Kameron passes with flying frog dog colors! |
We also spend out time working off our extra pounds. Janie is trying the air conditioning vent for a work-out aid. |
We learn to seek out secret spots. Karma has found a fort! |
|
We also learn to find the best sleeping spots....hey, wait that's a bed! Foster dogs are not normally encouraged to be on furniture, looks like Kameron's foster mom made an exception. |

| We usually rename all of our
dogs, just to give them a clean start. The task of naming the
rescues usually
happens pretty quickly. There are times when we look at a dog and
instantly
a name comes to mind. Others are named for events or personality
traits.
We have also named dogs for people we admire - though it may take a dog
lover
to know this is a high compliment. We sometimes dive into name
books and
find Welsh, Celtic, Gaelic, Scottish, or Irish names of orgin. Examples of some of our names: Tegan - Welsh "pretty, fine" Saxon - named for a volunteer's British background - Anglo-Saxon Curran - Gaelic for hero Annie - Named for John Denver song Finn - Gaelic for fair Chai - Named for a sweet and spiced tea from India Mariah - Named for a friend's cat who went to the rainbow bridge Kameron - Named for a child who has a wonderful sense of humor and wisdom that is far beyond his years Karma - Named in hopes that the rest of his life would be filled with good Karma Desoto - Came from a shelter in Desoto Missouri Winston - stately dog that we wanted to give a stately name to Ian - Named for famous dog trainer, Ian Dunbar |
